The Netherlands will take part in a new international intervention force, alongside the United Kingdom and five other NATO members, in a response to Russian agression in Ukraine.

This is reported by the Financial Times on Saturday based on sources that are involved with preparing the intervention force.

According to the newspaper, the force will consist of at least 10,000 troops, and will involve land, air and sea units. The soldiers will regularly conduct joint exercises and will be ready in short notice. The countries participating are The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Denmark. Other countries might also participate in a later stage. According to FT, British PM David Cameron will announce the plan for an intervention force during the next NATO-summit, which will be held in Wales on September 4th and 5th. Dutch Defense Minister Jeanine Hennis responded earlier this month by stating that during the summit, decisions will be taken about further measures in connection with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
