This week in Russia is the IV Krasnoyarsk International Music Festival of the Asia-Pacific Region, which takes place between June 26 and July 4.
Situated deep in the vast Siberian expanses of Russia, Krasnoyarsk sits at the edge of a very diverse landscape of cultures and ethnicities. This makes the city of Krasnoyarsk an ideal cross road for world civilizations to meet in celebration.
The Krasnoyarsk Music Festival story first began in 1992 when groups of performers from India, the U.S., Korea, China, Indonesia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Japan, Mexico and Vietnam came to Russia to take part in the program. The success of the festival led to its second edition three years later in 1995, which was dedicated to the victory of the Second World War. The number of participant increased dramatically
This year the music festival's fourth edition brings together an eclectic mix of musical genres with the aim of building bridges among the people of the Asian-Pacific region. In the true sense of what a festival should be, one will find much more than the usual musical suspects. Musical theatre, figurative art, land art, photography and cinema will also be on the menu to provide festival goers with a great summer experience.
In total more than 80 events are planned across three main stages with 45 professional groups from 23 countries.
